Vivek Agnihotri;'s directorial The Kashmir Files has taken the box-office by storm. The film which opened to limited screens and minimal promotions surprised everyone with its performance at the box office. The Kashmir Files narrates the story of the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, among others. The film is being praised by several artists and even high-profile politicians of the country and has been made tax-free in several states.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been one of the most vocal supporters of the film and has expressed his opinion on how the success of the film will impact the future of the Hindi film industry commonly known as Bollywood. Recently, he took to his Twitter handle and said that the film has given birth to Vivek Agnihotri’s Bollywood and that future film artists will crave his validation.

"On March 11th 2022, DADASAHEB PHALKE’s old BOLLYWOOD was brutally killed by #kashmirifiles in order to give birth to a new VIVEK AGNIHOTRI’s BOLLYWOOD ..In years to come all film people will be dying to get honoured with VIVEK AGNIHOTRI AWARD," he tweeted.

Varma had earlier shared a video where he was seen reviewing the film. Sharing the video, he wrote, "Don’t take at face value that mainstream Bollywood, Tollywood etc are ignoring the mega success of #kashmirifiles ..The reality is they are taking it more SERIOUSLY than the AUDIENCES , but their SILENCE is because they are SHIT SCARED ..Watch my REVIEW”.

Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files has crossed Rs. 200 crores at the box-office in two weeks. The film has been appreciated by several Bollywood celebrities and high-profile politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
