Unlike the quintessential Bollywood love stories, where the proposal is followed by the bride and groom’s families meeting and fixing a wedding date, the sequence sort of went a tad bit haphazard for our newlyweds Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani. While the actress and her actor-producer husband have never shied away from accepting their love and relationship on camera, not much was known about their proposal story until recently.

In an interesting interaction with Zoom, Rakul Preet Singh revealed that she got her dream proposal after her wedding date was fixed with Jackky Bhagnani. It seems that the actress had to push him for a going-down-on-the-knees sort of proposal because she wanted it to be a romantic story which can be shared later. She shared during the interview, “I said I need a story. I told him, you have to propose… you have 2-3 months left. No matter how you do it, you figure it out,”

However, it was truly special for Singh who later revealed that the proposal did eventually come as a surprise since she had forgotten about it. Revealing that it actually happened during their joint bachelor’s party which the couple threw together to celebrate their union with their friends, Rakul added, “You know honestly, I had completely forgotten, and he actually managed to surprise me, I had no idea. Bhumi Pednekar played a very important role. Because Bhumi sort of orchestrated it. And I couldn’t guess. Bhumi is his best friend and obviously my friend as well now, so she orchestrated the whole thing so I couldn’t tell.”

For the unversed, Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani tied the knot in a lavish traditional ceremony, following the Punjabi and Sindhi rituals at ITC Grand Resort and Spa in Goa, set against the backdrop of Arossim Beach on February 21 this year.
