Veteran actress Rakhee has voiced her support for Aamir Khan amid discussions surrounding reports that the actor is set to marry his partner Gauri Spratt at the age of 60. The reports have triggered conversations on social media, with some users questioning whether marriage later in life should be viewed differently. Rakhee, however, believes age should never be a deciding factor when it comes to personal happiness.
Speaking to Variety India, the veteran actress strongly defended the idea of finding companionship at any stage of life. “What is wrong with marrying at 60? Robert de Niro has been married twice and is now in a relationship (with partner Tiffany Chen), with whom he shares a daughter born in 2023. They had a child when he was more than 80 years old. Happiness in a marriage is not about age. I got married when Gulzar was almost 40,” she said.
Her comments come months after Aamir publicly introduced Gauri Spratt during a media interaction held around his 60th birthday celebrations. During the event, the actor spoke openly about their relationship and shared that the two had known each other for many years before reconnecting. “Gauri and I met 25 years ago, and now we are partners. We are very serious and committed to each other. We have been together for a year and a half,” Aamir had said.
Rakhee also praised Aamir for maintaining cordial relationships with his former spouses, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. “I am not in touch with the goings-on in the film industry, nor have I worked with Aamir Khan. But I do know he is a very sincere person. And I love the way he has maintained his friendship with his two wives even after the marriage. It says a lot about him,” she added.
Aamir was first married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children. Following their separation, he married filmmaker Kiran Rao. The former couple announced their separation in 2021 but have continued to collaborate professionally and remain on friendly terms.
