Rakesh Roshan, Bhansali, Anil Sharma set to revive ‘Indian emotions’

en Bollywood News Rakesh Roshan, Bhansali, Anil Sharma set to revive ‘Indian emotions’

Starting Diwali, all eyes are on the month of November which is pretty much set as the season of biggies that would be unveiled. Call it a mere coincidence but three of the biggest films of the month are all directed by veteran filmmakers who have perpetually maintained a stranglehold over Indian emotions.

"Whether it is Rakesh Roshan, Anil Sharma or Sanjay Leela Bhansali, their biggest wins have been in films that are seeped into Indian emotions," says an observer, "Even though current generation of filmmakers are trying to ape the West or make films that are pitched as niche or radically different, the fact remains that some of the biggest Bollywood successes have been those affairs that are deep rooted into Indian culture."

Rakesh Roshan, Bhansali, Anil Sharma set to revive ‘Indian emotions’

An argument that these veteran filmmakers would agree with, considering the fact that Rakesh Roshan has time and again maintained an emotional quotient in each of his films, Anil Sharma's Gadar - Ek Prem Katha stays on as a benchmark for Indian action dramas while Sanjay Leela Bhansali's biggest successes have been Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas.

"Now Krrish 3, for all its magnificence and VFX, has an undertone of Indian emotion to it, what with Hrithik playing the part of a father as well as son," a source adds, "Singh Saab The Great has Sunny Deol returning as a Collector in a small town of India and there is no Western influence whatsoever. On the other hand, Ram Leela is as 'desi' as it gets, what with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in a Gujarat setting."

With the industry looking forward to some genuine big ticket films with an Indian angle to it, ever since the release and super-success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which crossed the 100 crore mark, one expects the trio of filmmakers - all over 50 years in age - to give Bollywood that much needed biggie.

Incidentally, each of the three films is also produced/co-produced by them. While Rakesh Roshan has gone solo with Krrish 3, Singh Saab The Great has Anuj Sharma (younger brother of Anil Sharma (producing the film along with Sangeeta Ahir while Ram Leela has Sanjay Leela Bhansali coming along with Kishore Lulla.

Now hopefully, there would be an Indian connect doing the trick at the box office with audience giving their nod of approval.
