As Raju Chacha clocked 23 today, December 21, actor Ajay Devgn took to his social media handle and penned a sweet note. For the unversed, the action comedy film marked the debut of Ajay’s cousin Anil Devgan. To celebrate the milestone, Ajay shared a photo on his Instagram feed, which featured the three-part cassettes of Raju Chacha.

“Reflecting on 23 years of #RajuChacha, a film that holds my heart for many reasons,” wrote Devgn, followed by a red-heart emoticon. He further stated that his cousin Anil’s directorial debut “paved the way” for him to “embody Raju, a man deeply rooted in emotion, despite walking on the wrong side of the law.”

“This movie gave me the opportunity to work with kids for the first time, who made things so much more fun on set, and to share the screen with Rishi Ji for the very first time, a memory I’ll always hold close to my heart,” read an excerpt of his caption. The actor-turned-filmmaker also gave a shout-out to his co-star and wife Kajol for being his “steadfast partner, on and off screen, offering unwavering support.” He concluded his post by exclaiming, “As I look back, I can only feel gratitude for having been a part of this film!”

Reacting to the post, fans took to the comments section to share their favourite memories from the film and praise Devgn's performance. “I was in school maybe in 7/8th standard. And this movie was in my head. Literally i was longing to see it in a theatre,” wrote an IG user while another commented, “One of the most watched movies in my childhood.” In addition to this, a bunch of them also requested the actor to make a sequel of the film.

Coming back to the professional front, the 54-year-old actor is currently busy with the shooting of Singham Again, the third instalment of the Singham franchise. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the upcoming high-octane cop-drama will also star Ranveer Singh. Besides this, he has multiple projects in his kitty including Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Maidaan.
