Singer-songwriter Rabbi Shergill is set to make a notable return to film music with his latest track ‘Talash’, featured in Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Main Actor Nahin Hoon. Directed by Aditya Kripalani, the film is slated for a theatrical release across India on May 8, 2026.
The makers recently unveiled the song following the release of the film’s teaser, offering a glimpse into the emotional core of the narrative. ‘Talash’ delves into themes of loneliness, longing, and the search for companionship, mirroring the journeys of the film’s central characters. With its evocative lyrics and melody, the track aims to strike a chord with listeners while enhancing the storytelling.
Speaking about collaborating with Rabbi Shergill, director Aditya Kripalani shared his personal connection with the artist’s music. He said, "I’ve loved Rabbi’s songs so much that a line from his song ‘Tere Bin’ is tattooed on my arm. So for me, it’s a milestone in my career as a storyteller. ‘Talash’, the song, speaks about the very themes that the film speaks of, loneliness and how relationships can help us change for the better. And so it’s a welcome addition to the narrative of the film."
Rabbi Shergill, expressing his thoughts on the track, added, “It’s amazing to see how a piece of music can acquire new dimensions when it becomes part of a brilliant film like this. Here’s wishing them all the luck!”
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui also shared his admiration for the singer and the new track. He said, "’Bullah ki janaa main kaun’ is one of my favourite songs. So when Aditya and Sweta told me they have a song by Rabbi for our film I was excited and then when I heard ‘Talash’ it was so beautiful."
Main Actor Nahin Hoon also stars Chitrangada Satarupa and revolves around an unusual connection formed between two individuals during an online audition, gradually unfolding into a deeply personal journey.
With its emotionally driven narrative and Rabbi Shergill’s much-awaited musical contribution, the film is poised to offer a unique cinematic experience when it hits theatres this May.
