At 55, R Madhavan looks no more than 40. And now, to play the gaunt and wiry innovator Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, Madhavan has knocked off more kilos from his already-slim deportment.
Speaking exclusively to this writer, Madhavan revealed the secret of his youthful looks. “The secret is that there is no secret. I don’t do anything clandestine to look young. I don’t even pay any attention to how I look, until someone asks about it. I believe in eating, sleeping and living a balanced life. I think starving to look slim is a criminal method of trying to stay young. As for artificial ways of de-aging, they should be strictly banned.”
As for losing additional weight recently, Madhavan said it is the need of the role. “The character I play was extremely slim. If I don’t match up with him in the weights department, I won’t be able to feel and think like the character. What did I do to lose additional weight? Nothing! Just did some extra laps in the pool with my son.”
Madhavan’s son is national swimming champion.
