Priyanka Chopra on the pressure of Citadel’s whopping Rs 1600 crore budget: “Above my paygrade” 1600 : Bollywood News

Citadel, the latest series by Amazon Prime Video, has become the second most expensive series in the history of television production, following Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The show, which is executive produced by the Russo brothers, is reportedly costing a whopping $200 million (Rs 1600 crore) to produce. Having said that, the team is likely to consider the pressure to perform and for Citadel to be successful. However, the stars of the show Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden have different thoughts on it.

When asked about the same, Richard stated to Film Companion that focusing solely on a project's budget would hinder his creative process. He admitted that fear of a project's cost would prevent him from investing fully in the creative process and that he didn't know the actual budget for the project he was working on, which was daunting.

The Game of Thrones actor was quoted saying, “If I walk out thinking there is a 200 million dollar project on my shoulder, then I can’t focus on my work. Because you are terrified and you don’t want all this to go to waste, and (thinking about it) it kind of only destroys the creative process. So when you said the figure, I was like I don’t even know the figure. It is frightening to think how much it costs.”

On this, his co-star Priyanka added, “Yeah, that is not our job. I don’t think it is important that when you go and do your job to think about stuff like budgeting. I think it is coming on a great platform, which is Prime, and it is a great show, but the numbers and dollars, I can’t just think about that. There is no point, not for us. Above my paygrade.”

Speaking of Citadel, the first season of the global series includes six episodes, with two episodes premiering on April 28 on Prime Video India, and one episode rolling out weekly through May 26.
