Priyanka Chopra recently expressed her gratitude to comedian Zakir Khan after an informal lunch meeting in New York. Sharing a message on her Instagram Stories, Priyanka wrote that she was “so happy to know you,” applauding Zakir for his creativity, kindness and humour. She captioned her post, “Thank you for your kindness, humour and creativity. So happy to know you.”

Zakir also shared a glimpse of their meeting on his Instagram Stories. Posting a picture with Priyanka, he wrote, “Last lunch with the queen herself.” In the photo, Priyanka is dressed in an all-black outfit comprising a top, pants, and a leather jacket, paired with a grey baseball cap.

This friendly meeting comes during Priyanka’s stay in the U.S. for her work commitments. Before arriving in New York, she had been in Mumbai to inaugurate a Bvlgari store and had mingled with Indian film actors like Tamannaah Bhatia, Triptii Dimri and Mrunal Thakur.

Zakir is currently on a breakthrough North America tour. One of his most notable performances was at Madison Square Garden, where he became the first Indian comedian to headline a Hindi stand-up show at the venue, drawing around 6,000 people. The MSG show also saw a surprise appearance by Hasan Minhaj, who called the night “a historic night for comedy around the world.” During the evening, Zakir even video-called his parents mid-show, a moment that went viral online.

However, earlier in September 2025, Zakir announced he would scale back future tours to focus on his health. He revealed in an Instagram Story that he had been unwell for over a year but persisted with performances until now. He also said that going forward, he would not schedule new shows and would limit the scale of upcoming tours.

Meanwhile, Priyanka is gearing up for a major project with director S. S. Rajamouli. The film often referred to as SSMB29 is a jungle-adventure romp starring Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj, and Priyanka herself. The movie is pitched as a globe-trotting action adventure reminiscent of Indiana Jones.

In sum, the lunch in New York served both as a casual meeting and a heartfelt exchange of admiration between two influential figures from India’s entertainment world.
