Priyanka Chopra Jonas reveals which character she found difficult to snap out of; says, “It only happened to me once”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas discloses the character that was challenging for her to transition out of.

During an interview with Film Companion, Priyanka Chopra stated that she doesn't usually face any difficulty in transitioning in and out of her roles, except for one instance where she found herself behaving like her character in real life. According to Priyanka, her mother Madhu noticed this change in behaviour and reprimanded her for it. To demonstrate her point, Madhu secretly filmed Priyanka's behaviour. Priyanka confessed that working alongside well-known actors such as Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor when she was a newcomer in the industry could have played a role in this incident.

Priyanka was asked by a member of the audience if she found it harder to get into character or to transition out of it, to which she responded, “To get into it. I’m not very method like that. It only happened to me once, when my mother was like, ‘Snap out of it if you’re going to come into my house’.” When asked what character this was, Priyanka revealed, “Aitraaz.”

Enacting her character, Priyanka further added, “I would walk in slowly, I would talk deliberately, I would pick up my coffee up like this, and look at you slowly.” She said, “My mother was like, ‘Hello, koi camera nahi hai yahan pe. Come back home’. That was the only time it happened to me, it was so funny. I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ But I was so young, and I was so nervous about that character. I used to bring it home; I really wanted to figure it out and not get it wrong. And I was working with Kareena and Akshay at the time, they were big movie stars. It was a big step for me. But my mother quickly brought me down to earth. She filmed me once. She took a video of me quietly, and showed it to me, and I was so embarrassed.”

Chopra's portrayal of Sonia was both nuanced and bold. Her performance was a testament to her acting prowess and her ability to take on challenging roles that push her boundaries as an artist.

On the work front, Priyanka has Citadel. It is produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO and showrunner David Weil. Alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, the 6-episode series features Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville in pivotal roles. She also has Love Again and Heads of State in her pipeline.
