Actor Priyanka Chopra’s recent video interview has drawn criticism online after viewers pointed out that the graphic used at the start of the segment appeared to show an incorrect map of India.
The video, which featured Chopra participating in a segment distinguishing between Indian and non-Indian foods, opened with a sketch-style map alongside the title of the feature. Soon after its release, some viewers questioned the depiction, alleging that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was not shown as part of India in the visual.
Several comments circulated on social media calling attention to the issue. One user wrote, “The map depicting India at the start is definitely not Indian!” Another said, “Don’t use distorted maps of India.”
A post on X addressing the publication read, “Was watching an YT interview of @priyankachopra, the channel @Variety uses an Indian map that shows POK removed from India! I would like to ask @Variety who gives u this right to do so?! When you do an iv, try knowing the ground realities!! Hope u rectify this asap! #India.”
Some users also directed their criticism at the actor, questioning her association with the video. One comment read, “Why is Priyanka Chopra okay with this false map of India being shown in her interview with @Variety?”
Neither Chopra nor the publication has publicly responded to the criticism so far. The video continues to circulate online, with discussion largely focused on the map graphic rather than the content of the interview itself.
The episode reflects how visual representations of national boundaries in international media often draw scrutiny from viewers, particularly when they differ from official depictions used within the country.
