Not too long ago, Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a shocking revelation about the reason behind her staying away from Bollywood. The actress had stated in an interview about how she felt cornered by some stars and that she decided to jump at the first opportunity she received to move away. And now, in an interview, Dr. Madhu Chopra, her beloved mother, revealed about the one advice she gave her daughter about the way the world treats a person, and we must say it were truly some wise words!
Earlier this week, Dr. Madhu Chopra opened up in an interview with Supriya Paul wherein she recalled the time when Priyanka Chopra had received an opportunity to go for Miss India. Opening about it, Madhu said, “Priyanka ko Miss India mein jaana tha, toh ghar mein hamara bawaal ho gaya. Ki yeh padhne mein itni achchi hain, why do you want to take her out off school, distractions kyu daal rahi ho iske mind mein? Toh maine bithaya, Priyanka bhi gabhra gayi ki main select toh ho gayi, toh she also was nervous (Priyanka wanted to go to Miss India and it had created a little bit of chaos in the house because she was good at studies and no one wanted her to get distracted. Priyanka had become quite nervous, especially after she got selected. So, I sat her down).”
She continued, “She (PC) said, ‘Mom, I don't think I will be able to do that’. Hum usko bithaye or bole, beta this is an opportunity very few girls get. It's an opportunity. You want to grab it? Do something about it? Karlo. Warna wapas school to jana hi hai, woh kahi nahi gaya, hum log ghar pe hi hai. Tum school jaogi hi jaogi. But ye opportunity agar pass kar jao, nikal do, toh you never know if it will ever come back again. (Do it. Otherwise, school is not going anywhere. We are all here for you. You will go back to school anyway. But if this opportunity gets passed on, you never if it will return)."
She further opened up an advice that she always gives her daughter about the way the world perceives someone. Madhu added, “Priyanka ko main ek hi phrase bolti thi, tum apne aap ko chavanni manogi, chavanni jaise behave karogi, toh duniya tumhe chavanni jaise treat karegi, apne aap ko rupaiya samjho, bada samjho, rupaiya jaisa behave karo... be proud. Toh duniya tumhe... perception ki baat hai. (I always tell Priyanka something – If you think you are a cent, behave like one, then the world will believe it and treat you that way. But if you believe you are a dollar, that you are bigger, behave like one… then the world will also do the same.. it’s all about perception).”
