Global icon and Hollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas adds yet another feather to her cap, as her production banner Purple Pebble Pictures celebrates a massive victory at the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2025. The critically acclaimed film Paani swept several top honours, including Best Film, Best Film (Critics), Best Debut Director, Best Lyrics, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score—a testament to its cinematic brilliance and powerful messaging.

Paani, which hit screens last year, tells a powerful story about an ordinary man's struggle to secure access to water. Priyanka shared the proud moment on Instagram, posting photos of her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, and brother, Siddharth Chopra, posing with the Filmfare trophies. She also included a snapshot highlighting the film’s 18 nominations to celebrate its accomplishments.

In a heartfelt video, she said, “So excited, thank you so much Filmfare. Thank you Adi, thank you so much Rajshri and everyone who worked in this film. Sid, my mom, this was your baby and congratulations on taking home so many black ladies. I love it. Congratulations team #Paani and thank you @filmfare marathi! So proud of all of you who worked tirelessly to make this so special! This is all you!”

Paani secured multiple honors at the Filmfare Awards Marathi 2025, including Best Film, Best Film (Critics), Best Lyrics, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Screenplay, Best Background Score, and Best Debut Director.

Addinath M. Kothare made his directorial debut with Paani, a film that features performances by Rucha Vaidya, Subodh Bhave, Rajit Kapur, Kishor Kadam, Sachin Goswami, Mohanabai, Shripad Joshi, and Vikas Pandurang Patil. The screenplay was penned by Nitin Dixit, inspired by a story written by Hanumant Kendre.

Paani, a joint production by Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures, Neha Barjatya, and Rajshri Entertainment, was created to highlight the vital issue of water conservation. Set in a drought-stricken village, the film portrays the struggles of a community dealing with an acute water crisis.

The film had its premiere at the New York Film Festival and went on to win the Best Film on Environment/Conservation/Preservation award at the 66th National Film Awards in 2019. Last year, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, along with her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, and brother, Siddharth Chopra, attended a special screening of the film in Mumbai.
