Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput are parents to two children, Misha and Zain. Today marks Zain's 6th birthday, and their proud grandfather, Pankaj Kapur, recently confessed to indulging his grandchildren. He shared that they affectionately call him the ‘no-rule man’ due to his tendency to spoil them.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Pankaj Kapur discussed his bond with Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor’s children, Misha and Zain. The seasoned actor admitted to lavishing his grandchildren with attention, revealing that they call him ‘baba.’ He recounted a moment when Zain’s cousin visited his home, highlighting his close relationship with the little ones.
The young child enquired as to how she should address his grandfather. In response, Kapur stated, “This little thing of mine, my grandson, told her to call me a ‘no-rule man’ (laughs).” The actor further continued by explaining that he doesn’t have any rules for his grandchildren, and they can do whatever they want.
“This is their thrill. Every time they’re in their baba’s house, they don’t need to ask me if they want to do something,” he said. Kapur added that a portion of his "indulgent trait" will be represented in his relationship with his on-screen granddaughter in their upcoming film, Binny and Family.
The veteran actor noted that while he enjoys giving his grandchildren some freedom, he does intervene if they misbehave. He explained, “It's not that their parents are overly controlling, but I want them to feel free at my house, where they won't be restricted.”
He added that this natural grandparental indulgence is something that is also portrayed in his recent film work.
Following the buzz around IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Pankaj Kapur will next appear in Binny And Family. This film, which features Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan in her acting debut, explores the generational conflicts within a family. The cast includes Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, and Charu Shankar, among others.
Directed and written by Ssanjay Tripaathy, the film is set to release on September 20, 2024.
