Teenage brothers Rohansh and Abeer, sons of music composer Lalit Pandit, have scored a worldwide hit with ‘Coming Home’, a resonant, relevant and beautifully harmonized peace anthem produced by Warner Brothers.
Speaking on behalf of himself and his brother, Rohansh said, “Composing a song that resonates with people and carries a message of peace and unity can be a daunting task. We worked really hard to create a song that would resonate with the planet. It is composed by my brother Abeer and me, penned by Rahul B Seth and sung by Neel Khosla and Siddharth Basrur and envisioned by Divyansh as a part of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s World Cultural Festival to be unveiled in Washington DC.”
Rohash said that creating the song was like giving birth. “Excitement was at a peak as Abeer and I embraced Divyansh's vision, and our team came together to bring this song to life. Crafting the song and its requirements initially proved to be a bit stressful as we explored various ideas. We wanted it to be perfect, and it was a challenge, but we persevered,” he said.
Rohansh felt a remarkable element emerge during the creative journey. “The melody and the words ‘Coming Home’ kept resonating with me instinctively, almost like a musical muse. While we initially didn't give it serious thought, these words lingered in our minds for days, prompting me and Abeer to consider how they could become a captivating hook line. We realized that ‘Coming Home’ could work as a meaningful hook line if we could provide it with the right context through the surrounding lyrics. This idea was the missing piece of the puzzle we needed. It breathed life into the song, giving it a compelling theme and an emotional core,” he said.
The core of the song is rooted in the teachings of Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, whose mantra of ‘the world is a family’ deeply resonated with the Pandit brothers. “Amid the creative process, one idea emerged, and it felt like the perfect fit. Everyone loved it, and we decided to record a rough version with musicians to see how it sounded,” said Rohansh.
Rohansh is grateful to producer Mahaveer Jain for his support in the creation of the song. “He heard the song and provided enthusiastic support and encouragement. He praised our hard work and suggested that we take it to the next level by recording it with the best musicians to create a polished product for the World Cultural Festival, where a massive gathering of around 4 lac people was anticipated. The excitement escalated when Mahaveer Jain mentioned that Warner Music might join in to release the song. After many days of meticulous work involving talented musicians and mixing at the YRF studio, the song was ready. It met international standards, and we were proud to have achieved a beautiful track that showcased their musical training and experience,” he added.
Abeer and Rohansh, along with a team of dedicated musicians, played a significant role during the composition and recording process.
Said Rohansh, “There were undoubtedly stressful moments throughout, but the journey was worth it. The song was unveiled at the Washington DC event, with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appreciating the message it conveyed. The official release by Warner Music marked a new milestone. The song and its video garnered immense appreciation, reaching millions of viewers in just a fortnight. We are thrilled with the incredible response and the warm reception the song has received.”
Being born into the Mewati Gharana of music, Rohansh aims to carry its legacy forward as singers, composers, and writers. “We're grateful to the people who joined us on this musical journey and helped create ‘Coming Home’ – a song that will always hold a special place in our hearts,” he said.
