Actor Akshay Kumar recently engaged in light-hearted banter with Karisma Kapoor during an episode of the television game show Wheel Of Fortune, which he hosts. The exchange revolved around a running joke about the Kapoor family’s alleged real estate presence in Mumbai.
While speaking to Karisma on the show, Akshay joked that she, her sister Kareena Kapoor, and their mother Babita Kapoor own flats in nearly every building in Bandra. “In Bandra, every building has their one flat. The board in front of the building would read ‘K Kapoor’. They don’t spell their full names,” Akshay said, adding that Babita Kapoor’s name also appears as “B Kapoor” on nameplates.
Continuing the joke, he said, “I asked them, ‘Why are they buying so many flats?’ They tell me that they want to reach Santacruz and Khar also. But they are honest people, they don’t buy more than one flat in a building. Rest of the flats they leave it for other people. Karisma spends her nights in different flats each day.”
Reacting to Akshay’s remarks, Karisma dismissed the claim and turned the joke back on him, saying, “Kuch bhi. Do you know he owns the entire Juhu?”
This exchange follows a similar moment from the past when Akshay teased Kareena Kapoor about owning multiple properties in Bandra during an appearance on The Great Indian Comedy Central. At the time, he had said, “These are two sisters who are working in the industry. This woman owns one flat in every building of Bandra. Don’t you get rent from all the flats?” Kareena had responded, “Kuch bhi bolta hai (He says anything).”
In an earlier interview with DNA, Akshay spoke about his longstanding rapport with the Kapoor sisters, describing their interactions as playful and consistent over the years. “Whenever we meet — whether it’s on a film set or an awards night — our equation has remained the same. We are extremely fond of each other. Bebo and Lolo tease me about the amount of money I’m making and I tease them about having a flat in every building in Bandra,” he said.
Separately, Karisma Kapoor’s children, Kiaan and Samara, are currently involved in a legal dispute with their stepmother Priya Sachdev regarding the estate of their late father, businessman Sunjay Kapur.
