“On OTT the script is the first hero, then the director and then the actors” – Esha Gupta : Bollywood News

Esha Gupta is busy promoting her show Nakaab that also features Mallika Sherawat and Gautam Rode. As part of the promotions, Esha was recently in conversation with Bollywood Hungama wherein she spoke about her past, her films, and of course the advent of OTT and how it has changed the face of the entertainment industry.

When asked about how OTT has affected a change within the Indian entertainment industry Esha was very positive about the change stating that the medium has given a lot of people a chance to display their talent. “OTT has given producers and directors the ability to take chances with actors as well. In films, usually whatever role I have ever done I would have to look a certain way; but not with this. And I think that was the breaking point for me.”

Further talking about OTT platforms giving a number of actors a chance to achieve something she added, “I think OTT has given a chance to so many people. Like I saw Scam 1992, I was like, ‘Oh my God’. Later you get to know he has worked before and everything and your like wow Prateik Gandhi! You are blown away seeing a young guy playing that role. That’s when you realise you don’t need thousands of crores of money, PR and all that to become a star. You become one because of the performance you gave and because of the script that is what OTT does.”

Later detailing the difference between conventional films and OTT medium Esha Gupta added, “When it is a film, there is a whole team, there’s promotions and a lot of things and not everyone is comfortable putting all that money into you. But with OTT they know the script is the first hero, then the director and then the actors.”
