Director Om Raut is all set to bring the epic Hindu mythological story of Ramayana to life in his upcoming film Adipurush. The film has already generated a lot of buzz and excitement among the audiences, thanks to its star-studded cast and ambitious scope. Adipurush is based on the epic tale of Ramayana and will star pan-India star Prabhas in the lead role of Lord Ram, with Saif Ali Khan playing the villainous character of Lankesh or Ravana. The film is expected to have a massive scale and grandeur, with special effects and stunning visuals that will transport audiences back to ancient India.

The forthcoming film was earlier slated to release on August 11, 2022. However, to avoid a clash with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha, the makers re-scheduled its release to January 12, 2023. Later, in November 2022, the makers once again changed the release date and announced that it will arrive in theatres on June 16, 2023. Recently speaking of the same, director Om Raut and producer Bhushan Kumar stated that they utilised the time to make the movie better.

In an interview with PTI, Raut said, “Getting those five-six months extra was very important for us. We gave that time to our visual effects studios to make their work better.” He further added, “Challenges are always there but that will only make our cinema better and journey stronger. Especially with a film like this, which is a first of its kind in India, as we have used technology that is seen in big Hollywood films like Marvels, DC and Avatar.”

Speaking of the upcoming film, it is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the Escape From Tribeca section on 13 June 2023, followed by a theatrical release three days later.
