Nana Patekar, a versatile and celebrated actor in the Indian film industry, recently opened up about a deeply personal tragedy—the loss of his elder son, Durvasa. Patekar admitted to grappling with feelings of shame and concern over societal perceptions. "I felt so disgusted that when I saw him. I thought about what people would think, what kind of son Nana has. I didn’t think about what he felt or how he felt. I only thought about what people would think about my son," he shared. This candid confession highlights the often-overlooked internal conflicts parents endure when dealing with a child's illness and the societal pressures that can overshadow personal grief.

Addressing old controversies

The interview also touched on the allegations of sexual harassment made by actress Tanushree Dutta in 2008. Dutta had accused Patekar of misbehaving with her during the shoot of a song for the film Horn Ok Pleassss. Patekar has consistently denied these allegations and revisited the topic in his conversation with Lallantop.

“I knew that it was all a lie. That’s why I didn’t get angry. When everything was a lie, why should I be angry? And all those things are old. They have happened. What can we talk about them? Everyone knew the truth," Patekar asserted. He emphasized his innocence, suggesting that the truth was apparent to those involved, and expressed a desire to move beyond these past accusations.

Continuing his career

Despite personal and professional challenges, Nana Patekar remains active in the film industry. He recently featured in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War, a thought-provoking drama that received critical acclaim. Additionally, Patekar made a significant impact in the Marathi film industry with his performance in Ole Aale, which was well-received by audiences and performed admirably at the box office.

Nana Patekar's revelations about his son's death and his reflections on past controversies provide a poignant look into the personal and professional life of one of India's most respected actors.
