Nana Patekar can’t stop gushing about Anil Kapoor in Animal; says, “You were the only one in the film who had a restrained performance” : Bollywood News

Two veteran actors who have ruled the cinemas of the 80s and 90s, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, who have also been costars in iconic films like Parinda and the famous Welcome series, decided to come together for a one-of-a-kind interaction, ahead of Nana’s release Vanvaas. The two actors were seen discussing their journey as actors and sharing their experiences with the Indian film industry over the years. During the same, Nana confessed that he watched Animal after much persuasion from people around him.

Hailing his Majnu aka Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar asserted that Anil Kapoor gave one of his best performances in the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial as he also appreciated the latter on his restrained acting skills. “Uss din maine kahan na maine Animal dekhi, aur tujhe phone karke maine kahan ‘maine Anil bal’ dekhi’ (That day, I saw Animal and I called you to tell that I watched Anil Bal (Anil’s strength)). You are the only person to have given a restrained performance in the film. All the rest were on a high note.” He went on to add that he had initially asked his friends for movie suggestions, when they recommended Animal. “Maine kahan unko mujhe nahin dekhni hai yeh film. Unhone kaha, ‘Dekho yaar Nana Dekhlo. Anil ne bahut achha kiya hai’. Taajjub nahin tha mujhe. Tu achha kar sakta hai (I told them I don’t want to watch the film. But they said, “See Nana, do see because Anil has worked very well in it’. I wasn’t surprised at all. Of course, you are a good actor).”

On the work front, Nana Patekar will explore the father-son bond in the upcoming Anil Sharma directorial which also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Simratt Kaur, and others in key roles. Vanvaas is slated for release on December 20.
