Mrs. Chatterjee VS Norway director Ashima Chibber lauds Rani Mukerji; says, “Rani is the epitome of motherhood” : Bollywood News

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has returned with yet another intriguing and emotional movie in the form of Mrs. Chatterjee VS. Norway, and she has managed to wow everyone with her dynamic performance. The film is helmed by Ashima Chibber. In a recent interview, Ashima spoke about her equation with Rani Mukerji along with sharing their journey throughout the film.

Ashima spoke about Rani and her bond with her. She told Mid-Day, “When I decided to become a single mother and I was pregnant, she was the first one I confided in. And I saw a side to Rani which was so brave, compassionate, and supportive of me. Rani is the epitome of motherhood. Who else could have understood this story better than her? So, every day was a revelation to me.”

Talking about their journey on sets, she said, “It was an emotional ride for us. Rani was crying, and I was pretty emotional while doing the scenes. I couldn’t imagine that someone had suffered this long; 610 days without your child is excruciatingly painful, everything else is peripheral for me.”

Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway talks about the two year battle of a mother, who fought with the Norweigan Child Welfare Services to retrieve her own children, who were taken away from her. The case had gained attention globally with the Indian government and embassy also intervening in the matter. Directed by Ashima Chibber, the film released on March 17. It also stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Jim Sarbh and Neena Gupta.

Ashima directed the 2013 comedy Mere Dad Ki Maruti for Y Films. She has also directed TV shows like Yeh Hai Aashiqui and MTV Fanaah: An Impossible Love Story.

As for Rani, she was last seen in Bunty Aur Babli 2 starring alongside Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh.
