The big-screen adaptation of the cult crime thriller gathers momentum as the Rajasthan schedule kicks off in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.

Ever since Mirzapur: The Film was officially announced, anticipation has been steadily building around the cinematic expansion of one of India’s most popular crime-thriller franchises. Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, and created by Puneet Krishna, the film adapts the hugely successful OTT series into a full-fledged theatrical experience slated for release next year.

Adding to the growing buzz, the makers have now begun shooting for the film in Rajasthan. Actor Ali Fazal, who reprises his iconic role of Guddu Pandit, recently shared a behind-the-scenes video from the sets, confirming that cameras are rolling for the Rajasthan schedule. The video captures Ali Fazal arriving on set in his Guddu Bhaiya avatar, instantly striking a chord with fans of the franchise.

Taking to social media, the actor also expressed his gratitude to the people of Rajasthan for their hospitality during the shoot, which is taking place across Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. The caption accompanying the BTS video has resonated strongly with fans and added a personal touch to the update.

He wrote, “MIRZAPUR THE FILM. Shooting now. Rajasthan Schedule.
Thank you Jaisalmer and Jodhpur for the immense love and hospitality that knows no bounds. Aapne humein apna samjha…
To all the hotels that made us feel at home while we were toiling away from our own homes. खम्मागणी !! और सबसे भी मिलाना है आपको। पूरी पलटन खेल रही है। (Greetings!! And have to introduce you to all. The full platoon is playing)” #Mirzapur #MTheFilm

The actor went on to share his excitement and added, “Stepping back into Guddu Bhaiya’s world is always intense. This character carries a certain weight, a silence that speaks louder than words. Filming in Jaisalmer has added a whole new texture to the story, and this is just a small glimpse of the journey we’re on. There’s a lot more coming, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it on the big screen.”

The BTS glimpse has further amplified excitement around Mirzapur: The Film, which brings the much-loved—and equally feared—characters from the series to the big screen. The project is expected to delve deeper into the world of power, politics and revenge that made the show a cultural phenomenon. The theatrical format is also being seen as a significant upgrade in scale and storytelling for the franchise.

Created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Film stars Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, along with Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles. The return of Munna Bhaiya, in particular, has been a major talking point among fans ever since the film was announced.

The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in 2026. Following its big-screen run, it will stream exclusively on Prime Video across India and more than 240 countries and territories, eight weeks after its theatrical debut.
