Matka King Trailer Launch: Saie Tamhankar opens up about ‘Pan-India’ debate; says, “Language should not define your existence”

en Bollywood News Matka King Trailer Launch: Saie Tamhankar opens up about ‘Pan-India’ debate; says, “Language should not define your existence”

The actress urges industry and media to move beyond regional labels as she gears up for a pivotal role in the upcoming Prime Video period drama.

Amid the ongoing conversation around ‘Pan-India’ cinema and regional boundaries, Saie Tamhankar offered a strong and clear perspective at the trailer launch of Matka King. The actress emphasized that language and geography should not define an artist’s identity, advocating for a more inclusive view of talent in Indian cinema.

Responding to a question about the growing distinctions made between actors from different industries, Saie addressed the issue with conviction, stating, “Listen, I’ve worked very hard to be here. With people who work hard, fortune does happen. I am very happy that you said that you seem to have blurred the lines. All of us are trying to push this envelope, and I think language should not define your existence. I feel that cinema is cinema, an actor is an actor. So there is no need to box it, and the times have changed. So I will request all the media friends that are sitting here, that they recognize our work as actors. Not our geographic specifics, don’t box us.”

Her remarks come at a time when the Indian entertainment industry is increasingly embracing cross-industry collaborations, with actors working across languages and platforms. Saie’s statement highlights a shift in mindset, where the focus is gradually moving towards craft and performance rather than regional identity.

The actress will next be seen in Matka King, an ambitious period drama set in the rapidly transforming Bombay of the 1960s. The Prime Original series is created and written by Abhay Koranne, and created, written, and directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule. Backed by Roy Kapur Films, along with Aatpat and SMR Entertainment, the series promises a gripping narrative rooted in ambition, power, and societal change.

Headlined by Vijay Varma, the show features an ensemble cast including Kritika Kamra, Saie Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on April 17, reaching audiences across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

As the industry continues to evolve and boundaries blur, Saie Tamhankar’s stance reinforces a growing sentiment within cinema—that storytelling and performance transcend language, making labels increasingly irrelevant in today’s global entertainment landscape.
