Manoj Bajpayee opens up on the phase of depression he underwent in his early days; says, “I had a passing suicidal thought” : Bollywood News

Known for his acting prowess, Manoj Bajpayee is famous for his intense roles and many of them have left a long-lasting impact on the audiences. In fact, the Amazon Prime Video show The Family Man remains to be one of the most beloved web-series among Indian audience, featuring him in the lead role. However, recently, the actor left everyone shocked when he opened up about how he was rejected from National School Drama (NSD) in Delhi.

Manoj Bajpayee opens up on the phase of depression he underwent in his early days; says, “I had a passing suicidal thought”

In an interview with ANI, Manoj Bajpayee recalled that when he was young, he only dreamt of being an actor and had never thought of any other alternative career. Although, he told his parents about wanting to do UPSC in Delhi after failing his MBBS exams, he continued to dream about acting. But recalling his first experience of applying admission in NSD, the actor revealed that he was rejected. He said, “By the time I went to the National School of Drama (NSD), I had become quite experienced during those 3 years but still I was rejected. Following that for a duration of one month I felt like everything of mine has been taken away because I never had a Plan B. I never make a Plan B. After that for a month my friends supported me and got me out of depression and I started looking for a new path. Ultimately, in Mandi House, a theatre group of NSD alumni was doing a 365-day workshop, which I joined. I learned a lot there.”

Continuing about the phase of depression he underwent, Manoj added, "I went into such a depression where I didn't know how to face the near and dear ones. And when you only have one plan you feel as if all doors have been closed. It was during this time that I had a passing suicidal thought that people made headlines out of but that wasn't the case, it was just a passing thought that people experience while depressed."
