Pankaj Tripathi is unanimously appreciated for his supreme acting talent and acute choice of roles. He’s all set to surprise moviegoers with Main Atal Hoon, in which he plays ex-Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The trailer of the film was launched today at a multiplex in Mumbai where Pankaj Tripathi revealed unknown trivia about his life.

A journalist asked Pankaj Tripathi if he’s interested in politics. The talented performer raised laughs as he said, “Hum Bihari hai! Hence, I have a lot of interest in politics.”

Another reporter asked Pankaj Tripathi if being a Bihari with an interest in politics, did he ever desire to get into the political world?

Pankaj Tripathi nodded, and he shocked and amazed the media as he said, “I was in a youth wing. I have participated in andolans. I was even jailed for a week! Toh main uss raaste pe nikal chuka tha.”

Pankaj Tripathi continued, “Then I realized that the path of politics is full of thorns. Hence, I took a turn and started developing an interest in street theatre. There was Kaildas Rangalaya, Patna where I enrolled myself. Mujhe laga ki yeh behtar hai. Yahaan kam se kam bol ke acting hoti hai ki ‘main acting kar raha hoon’!” The last sentence got a lot of chuckles, as was expected.

Now that Pankaj Tripathi has become a force to reckon with, would he like to now enter politics? He quipped, “No. Yeh dukaan achchi chal rahi hai!”

He also added, “On a serious note, if you want change in policy on ground, it won’t be possible without getting into politics. You can do samaj seva at a very small level. Change of policies can happen only through political means.”
