The makers of Main Actor Nahin Hoon, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa, have released the official trailer of the film, giving a closer look at its emotional and personal story.
The trailer introduces audiences to Mouni (Chitrangada Satarupa), a struggling actor in Mumbai, and Adnan Baig (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a withdrawn, recently retired banker in Frankfurt. What begins as a virtual acting session soon transforms into an unexpectedly personal exchange, as the two remain connected over video calls, navigating their loneliness, vulnerabilities, and search for human connection.
Talking about the film, writer-director Aditya Kripalani shared, “We are really eager to share this film as a community in cinemas. It’s a film that is for everyone irrespective of belief systems. It’s also finally a film about everyday life and feels like a story of people that could’ve been us.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Our film breaks barriers between people and asks all to embrace the ‘other’ no matter what we believe. In this case, it’s a banker and an artist. The film explores a belief that labels divide us and humanity unites us. That’s the core of this film.”
Written, directed, and produced by Aditya Kripalani (FIPRESCI & NETPAC award winner), the film is co-produced by Sweta Chhabria Kripalani (Mumba Devi Motion Pictures) and Faizuddin Siddiqui (Side Hero Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.).
Main Actor Nahin Hoon also stands out for its distinctive filmmaking approach, becoming the first Indian film to be shot live across two countries over 28 days. “Action” and “Cut” were called simultaneously each day, with both actors performing together in real time via video calls, filmed by parallel units in India and Germany despite differing time zones and contrasting weather conditions.
The song ‘Talash’ from the film sung by Rabbi Shergill was released on his birthday. It quickly resonated with audiences, marking his return to film music after many years. The track connected deeply with the film’s narrative and complemented its visual storytelling, earning strong appreciation for its emotional depth. It also trended on Instagram and was widely shared by listeners, Rabbi’s fans, and members of the filmmaking community.
The film is also set to release across Europe in Germany, Austria, and Netherlands. With advance bookings now open in Mumbai, there is a strong demand in Delhi and Bangalore too. Main Actor Nahin Hoon is set to arrive in cinemas on May 8, 2026.
