Shakun Batra directed Gehraiyaan was released on February 11 on Amazon Prime Video. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa portrays the complexities of modern relationships touching upon themes like infidelity, commitment, and desire. The film opened to polarising reviews with some people loving and relating to it and some unable to make sense of the film and its plot.

Recently, the makers of the film including Shakun Batra and producer Karan Johar sat down with well-known film critics, some of whom liked the film and some who did not, to discuss the film.

During the discussion, critics made their points on what worked and what did not work for them. Likewise, Shakun and Karan presented their views as filmmakers.

Talking about polarising reviews and reactions, Karan said, "There is no right or wrong when it comes to any art form. It’s perspective."

Further, when asked if he would make changes based on feedback, Karan said, "I have made mistakes in each film of mine as a filmmaker. I know Shakun would go back in time and make changes to Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Gehraiyaan, or Kapoor & Sons. I know I have made blatant errors in movies. I can look back but it takes you time but I don’t think I have done it because ‘A’ critic has written a line. It is absorbing all the accumulated information over the years. But can I have that perspective immediately after the release? No, maybe not."
