Aamir Khan is one of the biggest superstars from the country. He is one among the three Khans of Bollywood, apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. But it would be unfair to praise him only for his stardom for his acting abilities make him one of the finest performers. He has been giving consistent performances for over 30 years now in films of varied genres playing characters of various shades.

Lagaan (2001)

Aamir Khan's portrayal of Bhuvan, a village farmer who leads his community in a cricket match against British rulers to challenge unjust taxes, earned him widespread acclaim. His nuanced performance in Lagaan showcased his ability to embody resilience, leadership, and determination. The film not only was India’s official entry for the Oscars, but it also reached the top 5.

Rang De Basanti (2006)

In this cult classic, Aamir Khan played the role of Daljit ‘DJ’ Singh, a carefree young man who undergoes a transformation after becoming involved in a film project about India's freedom fighters. Khan’s performance depicted the disillusionment and awakening of youth against corruption and apathy. In a lot of scenes, Aamir said a lot without speaking much.

Taare Zameen Par (2007)

Aamir Khan not only starred in but also directed Taare Zameen Par, a film that addresses dyslexia and the education system in India. His portrayal of Ram Shankar Nikumbh, an art teacher who helps a dyslexic child discover his potential, was heartwarming and deeply touching. The film had clashed at the box office with the commercial caper Welcome but it still went onto become a success. Aamir is now ready with the sequel of the film titled Sitaare Zameen Par, which releases this year on Christmas.

Ghajini (2008)

Aamir Khan's portrayal of Sanjay Singhania, a man suffering from short-term memory loss seeking revenge for the death of his beloved, showcased his dedication to his craft. Khan's physical transformation and intense performance in Ghajini left a lasting impact on audiences, earning him critical acclaim for his portrayal of the character's vulnerability and determination.

3 Idiots (2009)

Aamir Khan's portrayal of Ranchoddas 'Rancho' Shamaldas Chanchad in Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots was a standout. He brought charm, wit, and depth to the character, capturing the essence of a free-spirited and innovative student who challenges the conventional education system. The film saw a great performance not just from Aamir but also R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.
