Kunal Kemmu reveals the first person to hear his scripts was Soha Ali Khan : Bollywood News

Kunal Kemmu, known for his acting prowess, recently ventured into directing with the comedy film Madgaon Express, which has been well-received by audiences. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Kemmu shared insights into his creative process and the crucial role his wife, actress, and writer Soha Ali Khan, plays in it. He revealed that Soha is the first person to hear his scripts and ideas, making her an essential part of his storytelling journey.

Kunal candidly spoke about how Soha listens to his ideas and stories first, often hearing multiple versions before they are fully developed. "Soha is somebody who... if not the whole script, she has to hear too many ideas and stories. Like if I have a story, and I tell her ‘You know, I have this idea’ and she’ll hear it and if I write a good scene that I think is funny then I’ll make her read that scene and narrate it again. So, she has to go through multiple versions of them,” he shared.

Beyond just being a listener, Soha's reactions play a significant role in shaping Kunal's work. He explained that humour is easier to gauge based on her immediate reaction, but with darker stories, her feedback is more nuanced. “You see if it’s making her laugh. You know, ‘Ok, somewhere there is humour.’ But then sometimes there are dark stories and ideas that I have, and she will be like ‘Hmm, it depends. Let’s see how it turns out.’ And sometimes she will be like ‘I don’t know’.” This dynamic helps Kunal refine his ideas and push his creative boundaries.

In addition to discussing his current projects, Kunal also hinted at the possibility of a sequel to Madgaon Express. He stated that he would only proceed with Madgaon Express 2 if he has a great story idea that is as funny as the first one. "Because see, with the first one, there is no expectation... But now you have expectations," he said, highlighting the pressure of living up to the success of his debut.
