Kriti Sanon’s latest release, Tere Ishk Mein, has sparked strong reactions among audiences, with the film receiving mixed reviews following its release. The Dhanush-starrer has been widely discussed on social media, where several viewers have labelled the film and its central relationship as “toxic” due to its emotionally intense storyline. Amid the ongoing debate, Kriti Sanon addressed the criticism and the backlash directed at her character, Mukti, in an interaction with Zoom.
During the conversation, the actress shared her thoughts on how terms like “toxic” and “red flag” are frequently used in today’s discourse. She noted that opinions around such films are deeply subjective and shaped by individual moral perspectives. Kriti said, “‘Toxic’ and ‘red flag’ these terms have become very common now. It is great that it is being discussed. Debate is a great part of it. At the end, a lot of people are feeling like both are right and wrong at some points. Your moral compass is not towards one person, which is great because human beings make mistakes. If your heart is not wrong or you're not an evil person and you made a mistake, there's always a reason why you did what you did. It is a perspective.”
Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai, explores flawed relationships and emotional consequences. Speaking about her character Mukti and the controversial decision she makes in the film to give her child to her husband, Kriti highlighted the immense guilt her character carries. She explained, “She is destroyed in her own world. Someone who is as empathetic as her and feels and cares so much – imagine the kind of guilt that person would carry. If they feel they unintentionally also destroyed someone's life and were responsible for someone's death. Her guilt was very big.”
On the work front, Kriti Sanon will next be seen in Cocktail 2, where she stars alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
