Kriti Sanon reflects on early modelling days; says, “I started crying because choreographer was scolding me in front of 50 models and very rudely”

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has come a long way in her journey ever since this outsider made her debut in the industry 9 years ago, and recently she won one of the most prestigious 69th National Award for Best Actress for her phenomenal performance in Mimi. In a recent interview with Curly Tales, Kriti Sanon delved into her past experiences during her modelling days before her foray into the world of acting. The talented actress shared a candid glimpse into her journey, recounting a challenging moment from her early career.

Kriti recounted her initial days in the modelling industry, before she took her first steps into acting. She recalled a particularly trying experience during her first ramp show, where she faced the wrath of an unforgiving choreographer. She revealed, “My first ramp show, the choreographer, I have never worked with her again, she was very rude to me because I messed up the choreography. It was at some farmhouse and heels were getting stuck into the grass and it was my first time. Terrible. I started crying because she was scolding me in front of 50 models and very rudely. I was holding it for long but I cry the moment someone shouts at me.”

After relocating to Mumbai to pursue her modelling and acting aspirations, Kriti found herself in a situation where she was preparing for GMAT exams while simultaneously seeking opportunities in modelling and films. She eventually secured her first Telugu film, 1: Nenokkadine, alongside Mahesh Babu, as well as Heropanti. However, a two-month gap existed between the shooting schedules of these projects. During this hiatus, she decided to take the GMAT exam. Kriti emphasized the importance of having a backup plan in her life, noting that it alleviated the desperation that often accompanies the pursuit of a career in the entertainment industry. She acknowledged the concerns of her parents, who hailed from a middle-class, non-film background, and explained how having a plan B provided a sense of security. She stated, “I understand the concerns of my parents coming from a middle-class, non-film family. What happens when you have a plan B is that you are not desperate anymore. You are passionate but you are not desperate. It’s a very thin line.”

Meanwhile for Kriti, she was last seen in Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush. Produced by T-Series, Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, it was released worldwide on June 16, 2023. The actress will be next seen in Ganapath: Part 1 with Tiger Shroff, The Crew alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, and an untitled next with Shahid Kapoor, which is set to release on December 7. There have also been reports about the yet-untitled film that will see Kriti as a robot and Shahid as a scientist, who falls in love with the former. Dharmendra is also part of the project. She also has venture with own production, titled, Do Patti.
