Bollywood luminary Kriti Sanon has embarked on an eventful journey in 2024, marked by a string of box office successes and her foray into film production. Collaborating with fellow actor Kajol, Sanon is set to make her debut as producer with the Netflix mystery thriller original film Do Patti, a venture she describes as creatively fulfilling. In an interview with Variety, Sanon reflected on her decision to venture into production. She shared, "I want to eventually also get involved in certain films that I feel passionate about, beyond just being an actor, [to] creatively be there in the whole filmmaking process."
As the leading lady of several acclaimed films, including the surrogacy comedy-drama Mimi, Sanon has proven her mettle as a versatile performer. Drawing from her experiences, she sought out projects that challenged her as an actor and resonated with her on a deeper level. Collaborating with writer Kanika Dhillon for Do Patti, Sanon found herself drawn to a story that stirred her emotions. Recounting the genesis of the project, she shared, "When I heard it, I got goosebumps." Directed by debutant Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti is poised to captivate audiences with its intriguing narrative and stellar performances.
In her earlier cinematic outing, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Sanon embraced the role of SIFRA, a character that challenged her to portray humanity within the confines of robotics. Grappling with the complexities of portraying a sentient robot, Sanon meticulously crafted her performance to strike a balance between realism and artificiality. Reflecting on the process, she shared, "What was challenging was that there was no reference point to it... [SIFRA] has to feel that real." Despite the constraints of the role, Sanon's portrayal resonates with authenticity, earning acclaim for her nuanced performance.
Amidst her successes on screen, Sanon remains committed to pushing creative boundaries and exploring diverse storytelling opportunities. With sequels in the works for Bhediya and Crew, alongside her ongoing evaluation of scripts for her next project, Sanon's journey continues to evolve. As she navigates the ever-changing landscape of Indian cinema, Sanon remains driven by a desire to challenge herself and embark on new artistic adventures.
