Filmmaker Karan Johar is back on the coffee couch! Season 7 of Koffee With Karan aired on Thursday on Disney+ Hotstar with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The two stars spoke about how their friendship came to be during Gully Boy, their married lives with their respective partners, and what it has been like the last two years during the pandemic. They also played the fun rounds of Koffee Bingo, Rapid Fire, and fun buzzer rounds.
Amid the conversation, Alia Bhatt talked about how Ranbir Kapoor had proposed to her and how it had left even Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar in tears. “I was single after a very long time and so was Ranbir. Everyone around me, my sister and even my friends, everyone was like you are totally going to get together and I was like ‘okay’. Half wishing it, not full wishing it but I am like ‘let’s see’. I didn’t want to put too much energy into it. It should happen naturally. And it kind of happened naturally only,” she said.
Alia Bhatt recalled that she and Ranbir were travelling to Tel Aviv for the Brahmastra workshop and she was very excited to know that they would be seated next to each other. “We both were seated together so I remember him walking in and he was supposed to sit next to me. I was very excited and I was looking this way waiting for him to come sit next to me,” she said. But there was some malfunction with his seat, so there was a chance that he would be seated elsewhere. Talking about that moment, Bhatt said, “I was like ‘Why is my dream getting shattered?’ But later his seat got fixed so he came and sat back.” “That vibe started there only and of course, the rest is history,” she added.
She revealed how Ranbir Kapoor proposed to her. She said, “In terms of Ranbir and his planning, he totally blew my mind away because I was not expecting it. We were not even talking about it. We were talking about it for a very long time but then there were so many pandemic delays, that we decided we won’t talk about it. We’ll just go with the feeling. And that’s exactly what he did. He didn’t tell anyone. He just carried the ring and he did it in the most amazing place, Maasai Mara.”
“He had planted our guide to take the picture also,” she recalled how Ranbir had planned everything and had someone to take pictures too. The couple tied the knot in April 2022 and in June end, they announced that they are having their first child soon.
The new season of Koffee with Karan will see Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Ananya Panday, Vijay Deverakonda, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan as guests.
