Koffee With Karan 5: Aamir Khan on having no friends, being the perfect sex therapist and more with the Dangal girls

The fifth season of Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan has fast become one of the most watched chat shows on Indian television. After featuring Bollywood actors like Parineeti Chopra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna and others, the latest episode promises to be even better with none other than the Dangal team viz. Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra featuring as the guests. 

But for all those who missed the show on TV last night, here are a few reasons why this episode is a definite must watch: 

Aamir Khan, the nervous wreck:
Aamir Khan may be regarded as the perfectionist of the industry. Though he does limited films, the actor makes it a point to give it his all. But revealing about how nervous he gets closer to the release of any of his films, Aamir says, “I get very nervous prior to the release of any of my films. Though we have a focus group session and even if the feedback is positive, I still feel nervous till the time the audience has watched and liked the film.” Revealing more about his behaviour when he is nervous, the Dangal actor adds, “I always want people around me when I am nervous. Because of that I end up calling people at 5 and 6 AM.” 

Aamir Khan prayed for Sultan to be a hit:
Earlier this year, we saw the release of yet another film based on wrestling with the Salman Khan – Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan hitting screens. While most people wondered whether Dangal that also is based on wrestling will be affected, Aamir begged to differ. “Because of Sultan doing well, I think Dangal will also do well at the box office”, said Aamir. Further reasoning and explaining his theory Aamir adds, “Since people already know that Sultan and Dangal are based on wrestling there is this feeling ki ‘chalo Sultan dekh liya ab Dangal dekhte hai’ just to compare the two and see how similar they are. In fact I prayed that Sultan will be a big hit since that will enable Dangal to be a hit as well”. 

Don’t trust Aamir Khan and a crocodile’s tears:
The media earlier this year reported that Aamir Khan stepped out of a screening with tears in his eyes. But the Bollywood actor asked people to not believe his tears on Koffee With Karan 5 saying, “Don’t trust my tears, I may cry watching a film. But that doesn’t mean that I liked it.” Post this revelation Karan was quick to point out that this was one of the reason why he didn’t call the media when he screens Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for Aamir. 

The Dangal girls auditioned for more than a month before getting the part:
Dangal may just be a week away from release, but not many may know that Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra went through a gruelling audition process to bag their roles. Revealing details about them being cast the girls now turned best friends added, “We auditioned for a month and half before getting our roles. In fact we both were told to audition for the same character, that of Geeta Phogat. It was only after the entire process that we were told we made the cut.” 

The OCD connect with the Dangal team:
The on screen chemistry between Aamir Khan and the Dangal girls is palpable but not many know how the team bonded so well. Talking about the same on Koffee With Karan 5, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra revealed that it was their OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) that brought them together. “On the first day of the auditions I was really nervous, and I suffer from this thing that when I am nervous I start arranging things. So sitting in the casting director Mukesh Chabbra’s office I started arranging the note pads and pens”, says Fatima. “That’s when Sanya comes in and says, ‘Oh you have OCD even I have OCD’, that is when we hit it off and became friends.” Not being one to be left out, Aamir Khan too chirped up saying, “In that case I am the King of OCD.”

Talking about the time when they were called to Aamir Khan’s house to be told whether they were cast for Dangal or not, Sanya and Fatima went on to detail their visit. “When we arrived at Aamir’s house we just started clicking photographs and selfies everywhere, from the sofa to the balcony to everything. We didn’t really know if we had got the part or not and whether which one of us were cast. So we just decided to make the most of it and went on taking pictures.”

Dangal has left the girls with no personal life:
One and a half month of auditioning followed by six months of training and then the shoot, the girls complained to Karan that Dangal has left them with literally no personal life. “We still don’t have a personal life. In fact guys don’t even think of dating us now”.

Sanya and Fatima dating each other:
Another fall out of not having a personal life and becoming the best of friends was the rumours that started doing the rounds. Explaining the same Sanya added, “Some of our friends actually thought that Fatima and I were dating each other! That is how bad it got in our personal lives”.

Drinking with Aamir Khan is a bad idea:
In a special segment on Koffee With Karan 5, Kunal Kapoor featured in a special video extoling the virtues of NOT drinking with Aamir. “Drinking with Aamir can be very very dangerous because when he decides to drink... first of all, he has the capacity of a whale. He can pretty much outdrink everybody. Secondly, he doesn't want you to leave. So if you decide to leave and even if it is like 6 or 7 or 8 in the morning, he won't let you leave” added the Bollywood actor. “It starts with different stages. First stage is a stage of request which is 'Chal na. Chod na yaar. Rukh na todhi der.' And the second one is a stage of threatening you. And the third one is varying degrees of emotional blackmail. So it is very very dangerous to drink with him”.

Aamir Khan, the self-proclaimed Perfectionist and best Sex therapist:
“I don’t make any mistakes, I am a ‘Perfectionist’, says Aamir when host Karan Johar quizzed the actor about past mistakes that if given the chance he would have corrected. If that wasn’t all, Aamir also explained that if he had a secret life he would be the perfect ‘Sex therapist while Ranveer Singh would be a stripper’.

Human beings do not challenge Aamir Khan:
In the rapid fire session with Karan Johar when quizzed about what challenges the Bollywood actor, Aamir was quick to respond, “I don’t get challenged by human beings”, after the laughter died down a bit the actor clarified, “It isn’t the people but instead the situation and circumstances that he feels are challenging”.
