Currently, Kartik is immersed in Anurag Basu’s untitled love story, where he plays an emotionally consuming role opposite Sreeleela. So committed is he that he’s cut off from all personal interaction to stay in character.
“Kartik has never worked so hard to remain in character. He is following Dilip Kumar’s Devdas model. The late legendary actor became so involved with the character that he slept and breathed like Devdas. Kartik has cut himself off from all person-to-person interaction. Anurag wanted Kartik to grow a beard, lose weight drastically and try to remain in a dark place,” shared a source close to the project.
A close friend added, “He hardly sleeps, he hardly talks these days. All his focus is on remaining in character for the film.”
This deep-dive method approach — rare in today’s high-speed commercial cinema — reflects Kartik’s evolution from a relatable youth icon to an actor embracing layered, transformative roles.
But that’s just one chapter. He’s also gearing up for two big-ticket projects. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, is a light-hearted romance already winning hearts with its chemistry and music. And he also has the monster comedy Nagzilla, where je headlines an all-out action spectacle. In parallel, his much-talked-about collaboration with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions signals a bold new phase in his mainstream arc.
