Kareena Kapoor Khan, who continues to be one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood, recently revealed that there was a chance that she possibly wouldn’t have signed Jab We Met which turned out of one of her biggest blockbusters. In fact, she went on to add that it was her film’s co-star and her then boyfriend Shahid Kapoor who convinced her to take up that role. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Bebo mentioned how the film was offered to the Kapoor boy and how she had no idea about Imtiaz Ali.

In the interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan said, “I was actually without work. I hadn’t worked in a year and a half because I was saying no to big films. I was not getting the kind of film that I wanted. Films weren’t working, so I wanted to take a sabbatical for a year and a half.” She also mentioned that she didn’t know the filmmaker and hadn’t seen his work. “I think Imtiaz called up Shahid and narrated the film. We didn’t even know Imtiaz because he had just made Socha Na Tha. I hadn’t seen the film, Shahid I think had seen the film," she continued

“Imtiaz came out of the blue and it so happened. He approached Shahid, and Shahid told me, ‘Hey, listen, you know, he’s going to approach you for this role and it’s great,’ and I was like yeah, I’ll work. I’ll do this movie. I never knew that it would be this iconic movie. I think Imtiaz always looked at me for that, that you’re not understanding what this character is," Kareena concluded.

For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor Khan had signed the ambitious YRF multi-starrer Tashan which featured Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan as well as the Imtiaz Ali directorial Jab We Met. While Tashan failed to create box office numbers, Jab We Met not only bagged mass acclaim but also critical acclaim, making it one of Kapoor Khan’s most iconic films in her career.
