Being in the industry for over two decades, Kareena Kapoor Khan has seen it all - The rise, the downfall, the stardom, the glamour. Having said that, she has been an integral part of the trendsetting actresses, who has brought about a massive impact in the world cinema is perceived and more importantly, in the way actresses are perceived. Changing the definition of ‘shelf-life of actresses’, Kareena continues to be one of the reigning stars after years of marriage and even being a mother of two. As the actress traces her journey in a recent interview, Kareena explains the most ‘demanding’ part of the profession and the price that actors have to pay.
In the interview with The Ranveer Show, Kareena Kapoor Khan was asked if it feels lonely amid this flashy stardom and world of glamour and the actress couldn’t agree more. Explaining about how an actor has to keep their emotions in check, especially in public, Kareena said, “Of course (you feel lonely). I think people will never really understand what you are going through at that time. Sometimes, you have to do so many things for others no matter what you are going through. Ki aap 102 bukaar mein marr rahe ho (even if you are dying from 102 degrees fever) but they don't care. Shot dena hai toh dena hai (you have to give the shot means you have to give the shot) and people have done that. What you are going through, how will people understand?”
She further elaborated on what she finds as the most demanding part of this profession and continued, “There is no sick leave. There is no room to feel emotion apart from being a perfect star at that time. I could have had a fight with my mom or my son or anyone, but that time it just has to be you in the camera. This is how this profession is demanding. Not like promotion pe jaa rahein hai, ya event pe jaa rahein hain (you are promoting the film or going for an event). They are also very demanding and it does take out the juice from being an actor. But it is when we are unable to express our internal emotions. Tomorrow if something is happening around you like somebody is even dying, and you are in the shot, it is just you and the camera. It is very selfish but that's the price you have to pay. That's what I feel is demanding.”
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently gearing up for the release of Crew, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Tabu. The film, directed by Rajesh Krishnan and produced by Rhea Kapoor as well as Ekta Kapoor, is a heist comedy which is slated for release on March 29.
