Karan Johar, who made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, six years before his father’s death, revealed in a recent interview with Jai Madaan that his father was a "closed person" who rarely expressed his feelings. "He would never share what he was going through—his pain, his sufferings. But in that one year, I had several conversations. I am grateful to the universe that I had this opportunity," Karan shared.
While cancer is often seen as a devastating illness, Karan highlighted how the time it allowed them to bond brought them closer. He explained that the terminal diagnosis allowed him to have important conversations with his father, which he otherwise may not have had. "I was told he has only a year or 10 months. Because I had that time, I had several conversations with my father and shared things that were close to my heart,” Karan said, expressing gratitude for the time they spent together.
