Kapil Sharma thanks Anupam Kher for clarification ‘on sending invite’ for The Kashmir Files cast on his show

The Kashmir Files has been creating an upheaval at the box office ever since its waiver on March 11. The Vivek Agnihotri filmmaking features Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar among others and tells the heart-wrenching anecdote of the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandit community from their homes. The movie is making tabs for its remarkable performance and winning certain sections of the audience. However, The Kashmir Files has also been making headlines before its release for another reason. And that is because of Kapil Sharma.

For the unaware, the filmmaker had called out the satire artist for not inviting the team of his film to The Kapil Sharma Show for promotions. He had also said that just because his film does not have big stars, the producers did not invite them for promotions. Following this, certain people on Twitter had asked for a ban on Kapil and his show. However, Anupam Kher, who plays a climacteric part in the film addressed this issue in a recent interview. He told a media portal “Ye film bari serious hai, I do not want to be a part of the show. But I have to say, Kapil does not have any malice towards us or towards the film." He also said that he was invited for promotions around two months back, but he refused to go.

Following his clarification, Kapil uploaded the interview clip on Instagram thanking her for clarifying as he wrote, “Thank you page @anupampkher for clarifying all the false allegations against me.”

Nonetheless, ahead of the day, the star shared Kapil’s tweet and wrote, “Dear @KapilSharmaK9! I wish you had posted the full video and not the half truth." The ‘half-truth’ that he was about was the remaining fraction of the tape where Vivek Agnihotri illustrated that they did not get the call because there were no enormous stars in the show. When the host asked them why not being called to Kapil’s show is important, Vivek answered, “No, it is not important. People were nagging me a lot and kept asking me why I am not going to his show. So I told them the official reason, which was stated to me by Zee."

He said that he comprehends the market dynamics but ‘Kashmir’ in itself is the megastar of this movie and he had strived that a film on this topic would have been sufficient even without the presence of a superstar. Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files has been proclaimed tax-free in four states including Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Goa. The Vivek Agnihotri film, based on the video interviews of the first generation victims of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, also stars Pallavi Joshi and Puneet Issar.
