In Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which completes 8 years today, the superstar had the opportunity to experiment with both and portray her versatility as a performer.

With the central theme of love and friendship, the film went on to have cash registers ringing and also set multiple trends that year – Whether it was Deepika’s geek glasses or her iconic cocktail blue saree from 'Badtameez Dil', every girl wanted to be Naina Talwar.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani also treated fans of one of cinema’s most loved on-screen couples, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. A golden pair with films like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Tamasha and YJHD, the actors have audiences rooting for them and also massively contributed to the success of the film.

Playing Naina came naturally to Deepika who related to the character and her evolution. Says Deepika, “I believe I came into my own after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani because my journey in life is similar to that of my character, Naina Talwar.”

Someone who got past her reservations and shyness to embrace every moment and become an independent, confident individual, Deepika as Naina taught us much. In fact, at challenging times such as these, we can learn a thing or two from Naina whose motto was ‘Thoda waqt do sab theek ho jayega’.
