The grand event, which celebrated the contributions of Jeetendra to Indian cinema. This Mahotsav celebrated his iconic legacy - his journey from being an extra to becoming one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema. The event was graced by India’s Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari as it was held in the presence of a distinguished audience.

During the event, Minister Nitin Gadkari lauded Jeetendra’s achievements as the Jestha Nagrik award recognizes those who have made lasting contributions to society, and Jeetendra’s enduring influence in the entertainment world undoubtedly made him a deserving recipient.

Recalling his journey, Jeetendra expressed gratitude over his honor and said, “I stayed in Girgaon chawl for 18 years. While I lived in this small chawl, there was always sufficient amount of love. Today I am a 83-year old man and I believe the years I spent in chawl was the greatest time in my life. I was an extra actor, junior artist, I got my first break because Shanta Rao Bap found it so hilarious that me being a Punjabi guy spoke such clear Marathi. I call myself so because I was only 15 days old when my mother got me to Bombay, Girgaon and up till 18 years old, I stayed in chawl. I am more Maharashtrian than anything else. I thank you all for felicitating me with this honourable award.”

The felicitation marks a significant acknowledgment of Jeetendra’s legacy, not just as an actor but as an icon who has transcended generations.
