Janhvi Kapoor is the elder daughter of the legendary late actress, Sridevi, who etched a place for herself in the Hindi cinema with her magnificent and power-packed performances, tragically passed away a few years ago. However, Janhvi fondly remembers her mother, her career, and what it feels like to be in the industry carrying forward that legacy.

Recently, Janhvi attended the AajTak Agenda conclave, where she was asked about which is her first memory of watching her mother, Sridevi’s film, Janhvi revealed an anecdote about her mother and said, “ You know mumma would never like to watch her films. She used to hate it and I would hide and watch it, but I would be very troubled. I watched Chalbaaz as a kid and Manju was my favourite character because she would prank and would have fun but Anju’s character, the way she would be troubled by her father, would trouble me. Even English Vinglish was hard for me to watch because her daughter in the film (Sapna) would trouble her so much in the film, so I would get really mad! So it took me some time to start watching her films, I think I started with the easier, lighter films - Mr India, ofcourse but my strongest memory is of the Sadma movie. I remember watching Sadmaa with Mom and by the end of it, I was very angry with Mumma because of its ending - she forgets Kamal sir’s character after being taken care of by him in the film.. and I felt so bad that why did you forget Kamal sir...and I didn’t speak to her for two days. I was very shaken.”

She also added, how she wasn’t able to watch her mother’s films for a very long time, and now as she is venturing into the South cinema, she has finally gathered the courage to start watching her old movies.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, Ulajh and the much-awaited Jr. NTR starrer action entertainer Devara Part 1, which is releasing in cinemas on April 5th, 2024.
