Reimagining the iconic bandage dress, the silhouette hugged the body in a sleek, strapless, floor-length form while doubling as a canvas for intricate craftsmanship. The outfit, developed over 450 hours, brought together 26 distinct textile borders sourced from across the country, each representing a unique regional tradition. The result was a “living tapestry” that showcased the diversity and depth of Indian textiles on a global stage.

From the North and West, the ensemble featured zari work and Banarasi brocade, alongside Karchobi embroidery from Rajasthan and Ajrakh, Ashavali, and Aari Bharat techniques from Gujarat, along with Paithani elements from Maharashtra. Central and Eastern influences were equally prominent, with Maheshwari weaves from Madhya Pradesh, Kantha and Baluchari work from West Bengal, and Sambalpuri textiles from Odisha adding layers of cultural richness. The South contributed heritage crafts such as Mangalagiri, while the inclusion of Kanjeevaram motifs tied the narrative together, creating a unified expression of Indian artistry.

Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, the look struck a balance between maximalism and modernity. The structured silhouette allowed the horizontal bands of embroidery to remain the focal point, while understated styling elevated the overall impact. A sleek, pulled-back hairstyle by Gonn Kinoshita was paired with statement hair accessories from Outhouse Jewellery, lending a contemporary, almost sculptural edge.

Makeup artist Ash K Holm opted for a radiant, sculpted finish that complemented the richness of the outfit without overpowering it. The finishing touches, including meticulously styled nails, completed the polished, high-fashion presentation.

By spotlighting regional techniques from across India and bringing them into a single cohesive design, Isha Ambani’s pre-party appearance stood as more than just a couture moment. It was a powerful representation of India’s enduring craft traditions, reinterpreted for a global audience—proving that heritage and haute couture can coexist in the most compelling way.
