On the occasion of World Pet Day, Isha Koppikar spoke about the role her pet golden retriever Boomer has played in her life, describing how his arrival coincided with a period of transition for her family and gradually became a source of comfort and stability at home.
The actor shared that Boomer came into their lives in June 2023, at a time when she and her daughter Rianna were adjusting to changes that felt emotionally significant. What began as a thoughtful decision to support her daughter through that phase soon turned into something more meaningful for both of them.
“Boomer, my golden retriever, came into our lives at the end of June 2023, a time that was emotionally layered for both Rianna and me. While bringing him home was a joyful moment, it was also during a phase when I was transitioning between homes. In many ways, Boomer was more for Rianna than for me. I wanted to soften that shift… and somehow, he did exactly that… and so much more,” she said.
According to Isha, Boomer quickly became a steady presence in their daily routine. She described how his companionship helped ease the emotional weight of that period and gradually brought a sense of calm into their home.
“From the very first day, he filled our home with a warmth that felt healing. What could have been a difficult, heavy transition slowly became gentler and lighter because Boomer was there, quietly stitching comfort into our everyday lives,” she shared.
Over time, she added, Boomer became an important emotional support for both her and her daughter. His presence, she noted, offered a kind of consistency that helped them navigate moments of uncertainty more easily.
“For Rianna, he's been a constant companion. He listens without words, loves without conditions, and shows up every single day with the same pure affection. For me, he has been my dose of oxytocin, endorphins, all my happy hormones wrapped into one beautiful soul,” she said.
Isha also spoke about how living with Boomer changed her perspective on animals more broadly. While she had always liked animals, she explained that the experience of caring for him helped her better understand the emotional depth of that connection.
“Before him, I liked animals. But now, I understand them. I understand what unconditional love truly looks like. He's taught me patience, presence, empathy, and the beauty of loving without expectations,” she said.
Reflecting on the past two years, the actor described Boomer as a steady source of comfort through moments of change and uncertainty, adding that his presence continues to shape the atmosphere of their home in quiet but lasting ways.
