Ibrahim Ali Khan talks about the existence of nepotism since ages; says, “Today it is tougher to trick the audience”

en Bollywood News Ibrahim Ali Khan talks about the existence of nepotism since ages; says, “Today it is tougher to trick the audience”

The newbie opened up about nepotism, public scrutiny, and why star kids can no longer "trick" the audience.

Ibrahim Ali Khan, who made his debut with Nadaaniyan, is not only aware of the constant chatter around nepotism but has also experienced many such comments after the release of his debut film. The son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, and younger brother of actress Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim is no stranger to the privileges and pressures that come with being part of a celebrated film family.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Ibrahim candidly addressed the ongoing debate around nepotism in the film industry. Without downplaying his lineage, the newcomer acknowledged the larger conversation that surrounds star kids today. “Nepotism has been there. It's been there through the ages. But nowadays, it's more of a thing. I'm Saif Ali Khan's son. But this has been happening for years. Maybe it's just social media. I don't know. We have it harder for sure. Today it is tougher to trick the audience. They have become smart now. They're not going to pay and go to theatres and see a bad movie, especially when they can watch the movie at home,” he said.

His remarks reflect a growing sentiment among young actors from film families who are increasingly being held accountable not just for their privilege, but also for their performance. While many star kids acknowledge their easier access to auditions and filmmakers, they are equally aware of the heightened scrutiny they face from the public and critics alike.

Ibrahim’s comments come at a time when the entertainment industry continues to grapple with questions of fairness and meritocracy. Audiences, now empowered by social media and streaming platforms, are more vocal and discerning than ever before. The success of self-made actors and the rising popularity of content-driven cinema have further shifted the narrative.

On the work front, after Nadaaniyan, Ibrahim will now shift his focus on a theatrical debut. While his acting debut of Netflix garnered mixed reactions, he is now gearing up for another film titled Sarzameen co-starring Kajol.
