“I wanted to begin my Bollywood journey with something clean” – Meera Chopra

She plays the youngest and the prettiest ghost in Gang of Ghosts. For a girl who has done a dozen odd films down South and is beginning her Bollywood career now, it couldn't have been a more unconventional start than this. However, Meera Chopra is happy that it is the safest beginning that she could have bargained for in the world of Hindi films and with a glamorous persona being attached to her despite the characterization of a ghost, it is fun to be a part of such ensemble set up.

"When I decided to transition from South to Bollywood, there were a lot of choices available. However, the thing is that I am very conservative in my real life. I was not too comfortable with many offers that came my way. I wanted to start with something which is clean. I wanted to do a safe film and this is where Gang of Ghosts came to me as a film which I could pick with my eyes closed," says Meera.

She isn't bounding herself with too many constraints but wants to get into an experimental and a bolder avtar in time to come.

"See, when you are established then you can experiment. However, I was not strong enough to be experimenting in the very beginning of my Bollywood journey. One wrong start and you can get typecast, I didn't want that. I wanted to do a right movie with a clean script and a neat role. Gang of Ghosts seemed just right," details Meera.

As the youngest and the chirpiest ghost in the Ratan Jain and Satish Kaushik film, it was fun indeed for Meera to be a part of.

Laughs Meera, "Since I was the youngest around, I could take a lot of liberty. All of them treated me so well and Satishji used to joke around that 'Kyunki tu sabse choti hai, tu uska bahaut advantage uthati hai'. Like for example in the film, all ghosts have only one look throughout. There is no change in hair style either and even the costume change happens just during the songs. However, I used to change my hair style quite occasionally as I like to experiment with my look. Many a times Satishji used to notice that and tell me ki tune phir kuch change kar diya. But then overall, everybody was so sweet to me."

Now that she is ready for the film's release later this month, Meera is happy about the transition mode.

"I was working down South but for the last two years I had been trying for Bollywood. After all, every actress wants to work in a Hindi film. I had done so much work in South but then was not getting something which I really wanted to do. Main bhi chahti thi ki woh karoon jo mera dil kahe. I got that with Gang of Ghosts," smiles Meera before signing off.
