After being seen in Joker not too long ago, Shreyas Talpade is now the central protagonist of Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal. Though

Joker was an Akshay Kumar starrer, Shreyas did manage good recognition and appreciation for himself, something that he has managed time and again in multi

starrer setups. Now, one expects something similar in Priyadarshan's Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal as well which, despite boasting of a huge ensemble of veteran

actors (Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Asrani to name a few), should have good space for Shreyas to make his mark all over again.

No wonder, one doesn't see Shreyas leaving the side of multistarrers, especially the ones belonging to comic genre, for some more time to come at the least.

"Dekho woh toh chalta hi jaayega", smiles Shreyas, "Yes, I am happy to multistarrers and comedies but don't forget that I come from the theatre background and have

done films like Iqbal too. Still I have to do something different on a regular basis otherwise I would get bored. Of course 'daal chaawal' is good but at times you

want chicken as well. This is where films like Housefull 2 and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal come in. When you hear scripts like these, you want to be a part

of them. You want to experience thrills and adventure and then contribute to the whole adventure."

This is the reason why he is happy not to be have been typecast so far.

"I haven't refrained from experimentation either. To play a villager speaking an alien language in Joker was a first. Now in Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal I am this

youngster who keeps getting beaten up and also ridiculed by his family, even though everything is in a lighter vein. I love enacting such parts and don't want to play safe.

Of course at times my decisions have backfired due to which I have fallen on my face. Still, I am comfortable taking risks."

He could well be referring to some of his other romantic comedies like Hum Tum Shabana and Will You Marry Me which didn't do well at the box office.

"I don't mind owning up to them", says Shreyas in a matter of fact tone, "See, over the years there isn't anyone who has held my finger and led me through my journey in

Bollywood. I am happy doing things all by myself due to which all successes and failures have been entirely mine. 20 years down the line I would be content with the fact

that whatever I did, it was on my own."

Taking a brief pause, he goes on to add, "Today I know ki in sab filmon mein kya galtiyaan thi ya phir maine kya galat kiya. Of course tomorrow if I continue repeating

them then main hi bewakoof kehlayoonga. That's something that I have to be wary of."

Reflecting on his decision making at times, Shreyas says, "See, sometimes on face value, a script may seem really interesting but then the final execution doesn't give

justice to it. By then it is too late because you may have jumped into it and can't help even when things start going astray. Beyond a point aap kya kar sakte ho? At times

you work with a new person thinking that chalo theek hai, kisi naye bande ne story likhi hai toh phir may be he will do something good in it. Now sometimes it works and

sometimes it doesn't. All you do is learn your lessons and then promise yourself to do better in future."

No wonder, with none less than Priyadarshan pulling him in for Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal as a sole male lead, Shreyas is seemingly doing much better for

himself.

"Guess I am a little wiser today and have been reinventing myself well", smiles Shreyas, "I don't regret any of my films though. Of course I would commit mistakes in

future too; after all I am human. However my risks would be much more calculated now."
