It is a known fact that the script of every film coming out of the Yash Chopra camp is first blessed by Aditya Chopra. Though there are
various script writers and directors hired to do the job, there is a definite creative involvement of Adi (as he is fondly called) in practically each every outing, be
it their hugest film till date - Ek Tha Tiger or a launch pad of a rank newcomer Ishaqzaade. It was this confidence and trust in Adi's vision that
Arjun Kapoor was more than ecstatic to be a part of the film and stepped in despite not even being in the know-how of its script.
"Bollywood has become so competitive today that even newcomers have started demanding bound scripts. Especially for someone like Arjun, who comes from
the Kapoor scion, there was no dearth of offers. Moreover his strong lineage and experience of actors from his filmy family had made him learn a lesson about
always going by the written word on the script before making a decision. However, when Aditya Chopra felt that he had it in him to step into the film and deliver,
Arjun kept the rulebook aside and didn't even blink before saying 'yes' to the offer", informs an insider.
The reason was quite straightforward. Chopras have seldom gone wrong in their script selection and have been enjoying an enviable record for decades.
Moreover they have never launched a newcomer other than Ranveer Singh and for Arjun Kapoor as the chosen one for their second such initiative, the
youngster just decided to go with the flow.
"Of course, why would anyone for that matter have a second thought around that", questions Arjun, "There is no big deal if I read only certain scenes of the
film when it came to me. At that time, the script was being developed and I had only a basic idea about what Ishaqzaade would ultimately shape up as.
But then tell me, how many newcomers actually get such launch pad?"
He agrees that with Aditya Chopra at the helm of affairs, he didn't have to worry one bit.
"I blindly trusted in Adi. To have someone like him put his money on you is a big thing by itself. There was no way I was going to sit down and ask for a script
first", says Arjun, "I started preparing for the film even as the script took its final shape."
The end result pleasantly surprised him. "Today I realize that Ishaqzaade doesn't have the kind of look, feel and setting that could be termed as a
debutante's dream launch. I guess that's the beauty of debuting with YRF because they wanted to present me differently."
Well Arjun, come tomorrow and we would be waiting to see how this blind faith has indeed reaped in good benefits as well.
