After creating successful original Hindi shows like Damaged, Hankaar, Bar Code and Boys with Toys, and a super hit Marathi show, Padded ki Pushup, Hungama Play has now launched a new Marathi original show, ‘Shree Kaamdev Prasanna’. Released simultaneously in Marathi and Hindi, Shree Kaamdev Prasanna serves an ample dose of much-needed laughter after a long week and is the kind of laugh-riot that you’d want to enjoy with your friends over a weekend.
Shree Kaamdev Prasanna serves a story that is unique and hasn’t been seen even on the digital medium before. The show introduces us to Milind (Sagar Karande) who is an introvert and is shy around girls. Concerned that his son may never fall in love, his mother (Asha Shelar) prays to Lord Krishna for help but her prayers are instead answered by Lord Chitragupta (Vinay Yedekar) who sends Lord Kaamdev (Bhau Kadam) to Milind’s aid. Lord Kaamdev teaches Milind a mantra that can help him become invisible, read the minds of girls and in turn, help him talk to them. However, this mantra is not without any conditions. He becomes visible if he gets aroused! With Kaamdev by his side, Milind finds himself in the middle of hilariously twisted situations. In the process though, he finds true love with Shivani (Bhagyashree Mote) and also forms a strong friendship with Lord Kaamdev himself.
The show has only 5 episodes and this ensures that it sticks to the plot without even a single boring moment.
The casting of the show is one of its highlights. Bhau Kadam is the perfect choice to play Kaamdev. He proves once again why he is called the King of Comedy in Marathi entertainment. Sagar Karande as Milind, a shy 35 year old, is a delight to watch and infuses honesty in his character. Veteran actor, Vinay Yedekar, who plays Lord Chitragupta brightens the screen every time he appears. The interactions between him and Bhau Kadam are par excellence and it is heartening to see two phenomenal actors from the Marathi entertainment world play such exciting roles. Bhagyashree Mote as Shivani and Asha Shelar as Milind’s mother are both aptly cast and add to the comic quotient of the show.
Director Sandeep Naware ensures that the show doesn’t lose steam and keeps the viewers engaged throughout. The show is peppered with witty dialogues and hilarious situations. Every character in the show is well-etched and Sandeep ensures that each actor plays an important role in making the story more endearing.
Shree Kaamdev Prasanna belongs to a category of shows that immediately lighten the mood and provide the viewers with unadulterated entertainment. The show is subtitled in English and has also been released in Hindi for non-Marathi viewers. The non-stop hilarity, rib-tickling situations and superb performances make it the perfect show you need to watch to unwind!
