“Humshakals is my coolest and funniest film till date” – Sajid Khan

When it comes to comic entertainers, Sajid Khan has maintained an impeccable record, what with Housefull 2 finding an entry in the 100 crore club and Housefull being a big success as well. Now that he is returning with Humshakals, expectations are humungous, more so since the big budgeted film produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Fox also boasts of a multi starrer cast with the USP of its three male leads (Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor) in a triple role each.

Sajid, for you personally, how much of a stress-buster was making Humshakals?
Shall I tell you something; all the combined effort that I have put in my films has gone into a single Humshakals. It has been one interesting journey. In fact for the first time in my life, I have lost weight instead of putting it on during the making of my film (laughs). That's because I have been practically working 18-20 hours a day since last April when I started writing the film.

One hopes all to be worth it for you as well as the audience, considering the fact that Humshakals is expected to be a true blue summer entertainer. Can that promise be made to the audience?
I just feel that this is a right film in the right space which youth and families are going to enjoy. Honestly, it is my coolest and the funniest film till date. I can guarantee that people are going to have a very good time in theaters. They are going to enter as well as exit the auditorium with smiles and a song on their lips.

Talking about songs, while you have worked with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Sajid-Wajid earlier, this is the first time ever that you have collaborated with Himesh Reshammiya. How did that happen?
I was waiting to work with him for a very long time but an opportunity never presented itself. Another interesting thing is that this is for the first time ever that a film of mine has as many as six songs. So far you have just heard 'Caller Tune', 'Piya Ke Bazaar Mein' and 'Look Into My Eyes'. When you will hear the rest, you would realize that in each and every song, Himesh has excelled and outdone himself.

One expects that Humshakals' too excels and outdoes your previous when it comes to being the biggest in terms of canvas, stage, setting and budget, right?
Yes it has, though I have made sure to keep the film well within the budget. The planning has been very meticulous too. It has been my fastest shoot till date as I managed it within 71 days and that too when there are so many visual effects, courtesy the triple roles of my three leads. So many times, just a single shot used to take 3-4 hours to be canned. The film's canvas is also larger than life. Humshakals is a true big screen entertainer.
